SLUSHER FARM AND HOME CENTER has been a well known Sikeston, Missouri business icon for over thirty years. Glen Slusher grew up in the 1930s and 40s, the son of a farmer, who became a farmer himself. Glen married Ann, they started a family, and began farming on rented land. After several years of hard work, Glen and Ann were able to purchase a Scott County farm of their own. In the summer of 1970, a tornado ruined all of the seasons crops and Glen and Ann, realized they needed an additional source of income, along with farming. In 1971 they purchased the Dace auto body shop, on South Main St, in Sikeston. The following year, they built a 15,000 sq. ft. building next to the auto body shop where SLUSHER FARM AND HOME CENTER opened in March 1973. In the years since then, Slusher's has expanded five times and now covers over 45,000 sq. ft. Today, SLUSHER FARM AND HOME CENTER is still a family owned and operated business. Glen and Ann’s daughter Donna Thompson is the office manager, and daughter Cindy and her husband Larry Farrenburg, serve as store managers. Glen’s founding principle that “The customer always comes first” is a primary reason for Slusher’s continued success in the Southeast Missouri farm and home market. At SLUSHER, our business continues to be based on Glen's ideas about service to our customers. Because we carry such a large inventory, “We probably have what you are looking for”. But if you can’t find it on our shelves, our staff will make every effort to locate it or we can order it for you. At SLUSHER FARM AND HOME CENTER we are proudly celebrating our 36rd Anniversary in 2009. THE TRADITION CONTINUES!
